The 44th Annual Barrie Kempenfest was Bigger and Better

Peter Lorimer has been an active member of the Rotary Club of Barrie for 12 years and has a  long-standing tradition of volunteering for Barrie’s Kempenfest event. Over the past 12 years of volunteering, the Lorimer family, staff at Loraday, and friends has been seen doing security, behind the bar in the beer tent. The Barrie Examiner had this to say about this year’s event.

Highlights from: Kempenfest draws thousands to Barrie's waterfront - Barrie Examiner, Ian McInroy.  Monday, August 4, 2014.

  • Hundreds of thousands of people took in the sights, sounds and great food of the 44th annual Kempenfest held along Barrie's waterfront on Saturday, Sunday and Monday
  • Organizers say between 200,000 to 250,000 people were expected to attend over the three days to check out more than 370 arts and crafts exhibitors, as well as 30 antique dealers and approximately 40 sponsors.

According to Randy Richards from Rock 95: “at night, there was some great outdoor entertainment in the open-air and overlooking Kempenfelt Bay with the skyline and moon mirroring in the still water, nice comfortable night-time temperatures, and the Rotary Club of Barrie rocking the beer tent. All of the workers there were volunteers throughout the weekend, giving of their time so that the sales of the suds would go directly to some of the outstanding Rotary Club projects that support and benefit our City.  Even any tips that were left by customers were collected and put into the Rotary Club's Haiti projects fund.  Kempenfest is a HUGE fundraiser for the local Club and coming together with Kempenfest organizers is a perfect combination.  They kept things well organized and moving ALL weekend.  It takes a lot of thought and manpower to put together a festival the size of Kempenfest every year, and every year organizers are making this special festival bigger and better. Everyone at Loraday Environmental Products is anxiously looking forward to Kempenfest 2015!

What is Rotary?

Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. In 166 countries worldwide, approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 30,000 Rotary clubs.

In nearly 100 years, Rotary has grown from a small club of four members to a worldwide network of men and women who share a common vision for a better world. The world's first service organization, Rotary has a long history of helping those in need and uniting people of different cultures and beliefs. Through the work of individual Rotary clubs, and through the programs of Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation, Rotary is making the world a better place.
